TANZANIA INSTALLS HIGH-SPEED INTERNET ON MOUNT KILIMANJARO.

The Tanzanian government has installed high-speed internet so that climbers can share their ascent up Africa’s highest mountain on social media.

“All visitors will get connected” TZ’s Information minister say. The broadband network was set up at an altitude of 3,720m (12,200ft). As an added bonus, climbers can now share selfies from the slope, and their friends and acquaintances can follow their journey in real-time.

Kilimanjaro isn’t the first — or the tallest — mountain to offer service to adventurers. Nepal’s Mount Everest has had 4G mobile connectivity since 2013 and fiber-optic broadband since 2017.
